Host of Angels

We believe everyone should have the opportunity to access extraordinary choral music and feel the wonderful benefits of singing, which is why we share our love of singing with as many people as possible through concerts, new commissions, recordings, training choirs for young singers, Scholarships, and community projects that reach tens of thousands of children and adults every year.

Ticket sales contribute a significant part of our income but we still need to raise around £400,000 each year for all this activity to happen.

We need your support more than ever in our 50th anniversary year.

Be an Angel and give the gift of singing today!

Your support will help us to:

• Bring exceptional choral music to audiences in Birmingham and beyond;

• Provide outstanding development opportunities for young singers aged 4-18 through our Academy of Vocal Music, Student Scholars, Scholars, Associate Conductors, professional singers and period-instrument orchestra;

• Get tens of thousands of children and adults singing every year through participation projects in schools, hospitals and the community;

• Develop ambitious projects and commission new music, vital for the development of the choral repertoire, for example, recent commissions have included A Time to be Born and a Time to Die from Alec Roth, A Shakespeare Masque from Sally Beamish and Carol Ann Duffy, and Seven Angels by Sir James MacMillan.

Being a professional choral singer is such a unique vocation, with no real guide book on how to go about your work. Training with Ex Cathedra is that guide book which every young singer wants – lessons in how to be a professional in a safe, supportive environment. I am hugely grateful for this opportunity.” Ellie Sperling, Ex Cathedra Scholar 2018-19
