EX CATHEDRA | Singing Playgrounds Shortlisted for Award

One of Ex Cathedra’s education projects, Singing Playgrounds, has been shortlisted for a 2014 Music Teacher Award.

The Music Teacher Awards celebrate excellence in the UK’s music education sector. Singing Playgrounds has been shortlisted in the Best Music Initiative Award category, which is awarded to an outstanding music education project that has made a sustained contribution to the musical achievement of a significant number of young people.

Singing Playgrounds aims to involve everyone in the primary school community in singing. Ex Cathedra trains a group of children to lead their peers in playing singing games in the playground. The children are trained to lead, share, adapt and create singing games and a teacher is trained to support them in that role.

The award winners will be announced at a ceremony in London on 7 February. You can find out more about the awards and the finalists here.
