Jeffrey Skidmore conductor
This programme of enchanting music for a midsummer evening – performed by the glow of candlelight at Birmingham Cathedral – will take you on a magical journey from dawn to dusk.
You will be surrounded by birdsong in the world premiere of Stevie Wishart’s Voicing the Dawn, hear inspiring choral music such as Vaughan Williams’ Three Shakespeare Songs, Britten’s Cuckoo, Joubert’s Three Portraits and relax to Eric Whitacre’s mesmerising, hypnotic Sleep.
A medley of favourite Mozart tunes, arrangements of Summer Holiday, La mer (Somewhere beyond the sea) and much more will send you home singing of Summertime!
If you enjoy our Christmas Music by Candlelight concerts you won’t want to miss this atmospheric evening.
