A French Baroque Diva CD wins a Gramophone Award 2015

Marie FelWe’re absolutely delighted to have won, together with Carolyn Sampson, a Gramophone Award 2015 for our A French Baroque Diva CD. Released on the Hyperion Records label it has won the Recital category.

“This is a brilliantly planned and executed, musically illustrated biography of Marie Fel, one of the great 18th-century divas and muse of Rameau”. Read the full review at http://www.gramophone.co.uk/review/a-french-baroque-diva.

Jeffrey Skidmore, who developed the project, said: “I am thrilled that our A French Baroque Diva CD has been recognised with this prestigious award. I researched the programme, mildly obsessively, over many years and designed it for Carolyn and Maggie Faultless, the Leader of our Baroque Orchestra. I first met Carolyn in the 1990s when she joined Ex Cathedra as an undergraduate and it has been a great pleasure to watch her develop into one of the world’s finest singers, the quality of her performances on this CD are exceptional.”

Don’t miss our forthcoming concerts. You can hear us perform Rachmaninoff with the phenomenal pianist Steven Osborne in London on 27 Sep (more here) and a concert of Baroque favourites and hidden gems with the CBSO on 11 Oct (more here).
